HIGH-S-LIGHT 4000/2500 BOOST
with PNEUMATIC SHUTTER SYSTEM

Especially for the application of High-Speed Photography & Video on Airbag Modul Tests, this Lighting System has been designed. New test specifications require to perform the deployment test of airbag modules at test temperatures down to -35°C.

The light wich is necessary to illuminate the test area so to enable HS photogra-phy and video will normally causes a heating of the airbag module within a short period of time. Thus the tolerance of the module temperature cannot kept. In the past the HIGH-S-LIGHT Systems had been operated using the Standby (50%) and BOOST (200%) mode. These measures offered already good control on test sample´s temperatures requirements, but not sufficient for the low (-35°C) temperature requirements.

The new HIGH-S-LIGHT PS System now offer the possibility to direct the light

to the airbag module only in the needed sequence of time. The main functions therefore are integrated into the overall test sequenze control.

HIGH-S-LIGHT 4000/2500 FLOOR

The High-S-Light 4000/2500 Floor system was especially designed as a fill in light for crash tests and sled tests events. Past practical experience has shown that the head area inside the car and the lower body parts of the vehicle does not receive optimum illumination. This was carefully considered in the development of the High-S-Light 4000/2500 Floor system.

The new High-S-Light 4000/2500 Floor system provides the ability to direct additional light to areas where the main overhead lighting system cannot always cover sufficiently. The spectral power distribution and illuminating characteristic of the new System High-S-Light 4000/2500 FLOOR fully meets with the existing HIGH-S-Light 4000/2500 BOOST line.

The essential components of the system are the Luminary, Electronic Power Supply and Control System. This system is completely compatible with the entire HIGH-S-LIGHT 4000/2500 product line. This means that existing systems can be upgraded and expanded easily (e.g. by utilizing existing plugstations).

HIGH-S-LIGHT 575 BOOST-SYSTEM
Illumination for High-Speed Photography

The HIGH-S-LIGHT 575 BOOST-SYSTEM is a special design to match the requirements of illumination for High-Speed Photography. Especially it was developed to illuminate details and small areas from long distances or with a high illuminance. But a arrangement of several units can also be used for enlarged areas, so for example on Air-Bag test stands.

The Luminary is equipped with a 575W single ended metal halide lamp and a special igniter to start the lamp. The optical system is based on a high efficient short focus parabolic reflector. Within this system the lamp could be mechanical adjusted.

During its lifetime the lamp will loose about 0,5K/h on colour temperature. The average lifetime of the lamp is 750 hour or 1.600 starts. The lamp is operated by an electronic power supply, the EPS-Modul 575. It drives the lamp with square-wave current and controls the power. This reduces the modulation of the light current to less than ± 1% and allows flicker free pictures.

HIGH-S-LIGHT 250 BOOST-SYSTEM
Acceleration Resistant On-Board Lighting System

The HIGH-S-LIGHT 250G BOOST-SYSTEM is a special design to match the requirements of illumination for High-Speed Photography on-board of a

crash test vehicle or on sled test applications.

The Luminary is equipped with a 250W metal halide lamp and a special igniter to start the lamp. The optical system is a parabolic reflector. Within this system the lamp could be mechanical adjusted in three steps (flood - medium - spot).

The characteristic colour temperature is 5.600 to 6.000K / Daylight. During its lifetime the lamp will loose about 1K/h on color temperature. The average lifetime of the lamp is 250 hour or 800 starts. The EPS-Modul 250, is an electronic power supply. It drives the lamp with square-wave current and controls the power. This reduces the modulation of the radiation to less than 1% and allows flicker free pictures. The EPS-Modul offers operation modes from 100% or 200% of the nominal lamp power. The 200% mode, the so-called BOOST, offers more than twice the light intensity for about 10 seconds.

The 50% mode, the Standby, is used to reduce the heat radiation to the samples before the test is executed. Due to the reason that there is also a spectral shifting of the lamp at 50% power, the infrared portion will be reduced down to 30% at this mode.

HIGH-S-LIGHT 250 Liquit Light
Acceleration Resistant On-Board Lighting System

The High-S-Light 250 LL-System is designed to provide high quality illumination in areas where traditional lighting systems will not easily fit. The HIGH-S-LIGHT 250 Liquid Light uses a flexible light guide system for precise positioning and application of illumination for critical testing, such as under instrument panels, seating systems or other locations where traditional on-board lighting systems are difficult to position and use.

The luminary is equipped with a metal halide lamp and a flexible 2m liquid light guide. Heat load is reduced with a specially designed thermal filtering system.
The EPS Module 250, is an electronic power supply. It drives the lamp with Square-wave current and controls power. This reduces the modulation of the radiation to less than 4% and allows flicker free pictures. The EPS-Module offers operation modes from 100% or 200% of the nominal lamp power. The 200% mode, the so-called BOOST, offers more than twice the light intensity for about

10 second.

As modern camera technology increases the ability to position and capture images in unique and critical locations, KHS responds with the HIGH-S-LIQUID-LIGHT 250 BOOST SYSTEM on board lighting system.
